Cookies and Similar Technologies
Last updated: 24 June 2026
This policy covers both our website and our mobile apps. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
1What this policy covers
This explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on our website (www.99app.co.uk) and in the 99 App mobile apps, and how you can control them. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
2What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files stored by your browser when you visit a website. In our mobile apps we do not use browser cookies; instead we use similar technologies - local storage on your device, software development kits (SDKs), and device/app identifiers - which work in a comparable way. We refer to all of these together as "cookies and similar technologies."
3The categories we use
a. Strictly necessary (always on, no consent needed) - required for the service to work:
- Recording your consent choices
- Keeping you in your current session / remembering your waitlist standing
- Referral attribution (so a referral is credited correctly)
- Your accessibility settings (text size, reduced motion, high contrast)
- Security and abuse prevention
b. Analytics and performance (off by default, consent required) - help us understand usage and improve the product. Collected only after you opt in, and you can change your mind at any time:
- On the website: Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and GoatCounter (see section 6 for what each provider does)
- In the apps: Google Analytics for Firebase (an app-usage identifier and event data); no browser cookies
4Your choices and how to control them
Analytics is off by default. We use Consent Mode so that nothing in category (b) is collected until you opt in.
- Website: use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer to accept or decline, and to change your choice later.
- Apps: manage analytics in the app's Settings at any time.
- You can also control cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly-necessary items may stop parts of the service working.
5Third-party providers
Where category (b) is enabled, data is processed by our analytics providers acting on our behalf (see the Privacy Policy section 9 for the named processors and section 8 for international transfers). We do not use cookies or identifiers to track you across other companies' apps or sites for advertising.
6The cookies and storage items we use
The technologies we use across both surfaces, by what they do. Analytics items (category b) load only after you opt in - nothing in (b) runs until then.
On the website
| Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| 99 App | Remembers your cookie choice | Strictly necessary | Until you change it |
| Google Analytics | Understand how people use the site | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| Microsoft Clarity | Usage insights and session replay | Analytics | Up to 1 year |
| GoatCounter | Privacy-friendly visitor counts | Analytics | No cookies used |
In the apps
Our mobile apps do not use browser cookies. They keep a few things on your device only to make the app work - your session and waitlist standing, referral attribution, your consent choices, and your accessibility settings (all strictly necessary). If you opt in, we also use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage; nothing analytics-related runs until you opt in, and you can change that anytime in Settings.
For the specific cookies each provider sets, see the cookie notices published by Google and Microsoft Clarity.
